I need to be able to receive and work with digital impression files from those systems ( i own a CAD software that uses STL ). I was thinking about getting Rhino 4 + Dental Shaper in order to convert the files the clients send me to STL, i see some of you have a vast experience in this field.

Are the converted files exactly the same as the original, or there's a chance of alteration/loss of data? What happens if a new upgrade of, let's say, Cerec comes out and they change their proprietary file type? Will i not be able to convert those files until Dental Shaper introduces a feature for that? The raw scans can't be pulled from the scanner (well they technically can but the doctor probably isn't going to know how to do that and Dental Shaper won't have that format in their software). I'm more concerned with the conversion quality and future possibility, i know Dental Shaper can open.cdt files (Sirona),but if Sirona changes the file format ( i'm pretty sure the files in the Blue Light version have a different extension ) i probably will be stuck until i find a way to open them.
